The company operates through six business segments: Corporates, Mittelstand and Retail Customers, Markets, Real Estate and Savings Banks/Association, Eastern Europe, Restructuring Unit, and Central Areas and Others. The Corporates, Mittelstand and Retail Customers segment comprises of two divisions: Corporates and Mittelstand. The Corporates division serves large corporate customers and multinational corporations in Germany and the core regions of Europe and North America. The Mittelstand Division supports companies throughout Germany with sales of EUR 50 million to EUR 1 billion. This segment also comprises of subsidiaries, Deutsche Kreditbank AG and Banque LBLux SA, which are principally active in retail and private banking. The Markets segment offers capital market and treasury products for the large corporates, Mittelstand, savings banks and real estate customer groups as well as banks, insurance companies and other institutional customers. The Real Estate and Savings Banks/Association segment comprises of the company's commercial and residential real estate customers in Germany and abroad, including its consolidated subsidiaries. The Eastern Europe segment consists of the operations through the company's Hungarian subsidiary, the MKB sub-group, a commercial bank with smaller banking subsidiaries in Bulgaria and Romania, operating primarily in the corporate and retail customer sectors. The Restructuring Unit segment ring-fences selected portfolios from the operating activities of the business segments. The Central Areas and Others segment comprises of the earnings contributions from the central areas corporate center, and IT and operations. This segment also includes transactions whose earnings contributions cannot be allocated to either a business area or a central area. The company was founded on July 1, 1972 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany.
