Germán Efromovich, Cofounder of Avianca Holdings S.A. & Chairman
Born in Bolivia, he moved to Brazil when he was a teenager, becoming a citizen of this country. He studied Mechanical Engineering in the Brazilian FEI University in Sao Paulo, and began his career as an SGS inspection engineer in 1976.

In 1977 he started out in business in the radiochemical industry, diversifying his investments over the next 10 years to activities related to oil exploration, the airline industry, energy production, shipbuilding and telecommunications. As part of this expansion and consolidation in 2000 Mr. Efromovich created the Synergy Group.

In 2006, the Government of Colombia granted him citizenship, for his invaluable services and contributions to national development.

Mr. Germán Efromovich owns companies in the oil sector, radiochemistry, radio pharmaceuticals, airlines, motor maintenance station, shipbuilding, agribusiness and hotels.
Fabio Villegas Ramírez , CEO - Chief Executive Officer Avianca
Fabio Villegas Ramirez was born in Colombia. He is an economist from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá, has a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and a diploma in Development Planning from the University of London.

Villegas Ramirez has held the positions of Secretary General to the President of Colombia, a government minister, Advisor to the Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo Enterprise Organization, Director General of Deutsche Bank and Rothschild Group in Bogota, as well as President of the Colombian National Association of Financial Institutions, ANIF.

In 2005 he was appointed Executive President of Aerovias del Continente Americano, Avianca, and has been CEO of Avianca holdings since October 2009.

Salvadorean. He has an MBA from The Boston College in Boston, Massachusetts; and a BA in Economics from the University of Santa Clara, California, United States.

He has served as a member of the Board for the: Banco Agrícola of El Salvador; the Business Foundation for Educational Development (FEPADE); the Salvadorean Foundation for Health and Human Development (FUSAL); AGAPE, an institution that provides assistance in the fields of health, nutrition, education and shelter, with productive projects in hostels and restaurants, education andcommunication; Director of the Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (ESEN) Business School; President of the Kriete Group Investment Company; President of the Gloria de Kriete Foundation; President of the Fundación Coatepeque Foundation of El Salvador; Deputy Director of the Board of Directors of Hotel Real Intercontinental in El Salvador.

Founder and board member of the Mexican airline Volaris; President of the Board AviancaTaca and President of the Latin American Association of Airlines (ALTA).

Awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honor, Degree of Officer by the Government of France; with the Honorary Member Award 2007 of the Salvadorean Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES); Decorated with the Grade of Grand Cross of the Central American Order of SICA for his valuable contributions to regional integration, and was awarded the Order of Merit for Distinguished Service in the rank of Grand Officer by the government
Estuardo Ortiz Porras, COO - Chief Operating Officer Avianca
Guatemalan. Industrial Chemical Engineering graduate from the Universidad Rafael Landívar de Guatemala. MBA with a Specialization in Productivity - Magna Cum Laude – and Valedictorian from the Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. Completed executive programs in finance at the Harvard Business School, the corporate leadership program at Darden Business School and brand strategies in the Kellogg School of Business. Performed marketing practices in Europe, the United States and Asia.

He worked for Philip Morris in Guatemala as Marketing and Sales Manager; Country Manager for Philip Morris in El Salvador; Director General of the Caribbean for Philip Morris Latin America Sales Corp. and also Director of Sales Strategy for Latin America in New York.

In TACA Airlines he has held the positions of Vice President of Sales; Commercial Vice President, Executive Vice President and COO.

In January 2010, he began his duties as Executive Vice President and COO of Avianca, during which time he led the design and implementation of the integration of the operations of Avianca, TACA Airlines, TACA Regional and Tampa, all belonging to Avianca Holdings.
In December 2013 he was appointed Executive Vice President and CRO for Avianca, where he focused on the development of corporate strategy to diversify revenue, with the objective of make effective progress in achieving profitability targets.
Gerardo Grajales López, CFO - Chief Financial Officer Avianca
Gerardo Grajales joined Aaerovías del Contienete Americano S.A., Avianca on May 20, 2002 as CFO. He has a B.S. in Business Administration with an M.S. in finance from Baltimore University.

He started his professional career as Treasurer for Gillette Colombia in 1992 and joined Baxter Pharmaceutical as CFO in 1995 and acted also as Marketing Director for the Andean region. In 1998, he joined the electric power industry in Colombia acting as CEO for thermal power plants located in Cartagena, Colombia.

As Avianca’s CFO, Mr. Grajales lead the successful C-11 process of the Company. He has also lead the teams that negotiated the new fleet, its incorporation and financing, including ECA and IFC financing as well as the local bond issuance for ~US$250 million in 2009.

Currently Mr Grajales is the Executive VP and CFO for Avianca Holdings leading the IPO in 2011 that yield more than $277 million in fresh capital for Avianca Holdings.
