W. Pierce Carson, President & CEO, Chairman
W. Pierce Carson, PhD, joined Santa Fe Gold Corp as President and CEO in the fall of 2003 as part of the Company’s restructuring and reorganization initiative, following a period of engagement as consultant. With Santa Fe Gold, Dr. Carson continues an accomplished international mining career spanning over 35 years with extensive experience in directing exploration, development and mining of base metals, precious metals and industrial minerals and in administering public companies. Dr. Carson holds a PhD in Economic and Structural Geology and an MS in Ore Deposits from Stanford University, and a Bachelors Degree in Geology from Princeton University. Dr. Carson has served with distinction at several mining organizations around the world. Previous positions held by Dr. Carson include: President and Director of Mining & Exploration Operations in Australia, Papua New Guinea, USA, Canada, and Mexico for Nord Pacific Ltd. (NASDAQ, TSX, ASX) President and Vice-President of Exploration, Australia, Asia & US for Nord Resources Corporation (NYSE) Manager of Precious Metals Exploration, North America, for Kennecott Copper, Inc. Senior Geologist, Houston; Supervisory Geologist, Perth, Western Australia; Exploration Manager, Queensland & New South Wales, Australia; Exploration Manager, Uranium and Copper, Australia, for Exxon Minerals, Inc. John E. Frost, Director
John E. (Jack) Frost, PhD, joined Santa Fe Gold Corp's Board of Directors in May 2007. Dr. Frost brings to Santa Fe Gold over 50 years of international mining experience in a wide range of metallic and non-metallic minerals. Dr. Frost has been closely involved in the discovery, evaluation, development and/or acquisition of more than 40 commercial mineral deposits. Dr. Frost holds a B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering, an M.S. Degree in Geology and a Ph.D. in Geology, all from Stanford University. As principal of Frost Minerals International, Inc. since 1986, Dr. Frost has provided management and consulting services involving acquisitions, minerals exploration and mining. From 1967-1986, he worked for Exxon Minerals Company and its affiliates in a number of senior management capacities, including president of Exxon Minerals International. Dr. Frost had major responsibility for establishing and managing Exxon's very successful domestic and international minerals exploration programs, among the largest in the world. In 1983, Dr. Frost received the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers' Charles F. Rand Memorial Gold Medal for innovative leadership. In 1984, he was honored with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration's Distinguished Member Award.
Michael P. Martinez, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Michael P. Martinez, CPA, joined Santa Fe Gold in April 2008 as Controller and Accounting Manager. Mr. Martinez has 15 years of experience in public and private accounting and financial management. Prior to his employment with Santa Fe Gold, Mr. Martinez was self-employed as a financial management consultant. Previously, he worked for ten years as Financial Officer for a global aerospace manufacturing company, during which time he was responsible for financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, tax planning and compliance, inventory and cost accounting, administration of payroll and benefits, risk management, and treasury activities. Early in his career, he served for two years as a staff accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Cum Laude) from the University of Arizona and is a member of the New Mexico Society of CPA's.
Frank G. Mueller, Assistant Controller
Frank G. Mueller joined Santa Fe Gold in June 2010 as Assistant Controller. Mr. Mueller has 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management. Prior to his employment with Santa Fe Gold, Mr. Mueller served for six years as the Senior Business Manager for two divisions of Cornell Company, a publicly traded organization. Mr. Mueller was responsible for financial reporting, revenues, budgeting and inventory for 20 plus facilities in multiple states. Mr. Mueller holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with Honors, from the University of Texas and a Masters Degree in Accounting from New Mexico State University.
Ryan P. Carson, Secretary and Assistant Treasurer
Ryan P. Carson, JD, has been with Santa Fe Gold Corp since September 2005. After graduation from law school in 2003, Mr. Carson gained general legal experience with law firms in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Phoenix, Arizona. Ryan is the eldest son of the Company’s president, W. Pierce Carson. Mr. Carson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico and a JD (law) Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Carson is a member of the state bars of New Mexico and Texas and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Thornwell Roger, Senior Geological Consultant
Thornwell Rogers has managed Santa Fe Gold’s exploration program in the Lordsburg Mining District beginning in mid-2010. This program has included detailed geologic mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical surveying focused on the company’s land holdings in the district. This work has identified targets for drilling. Mr. Rogers has 36 years of diversified field and managerial experience in precious metals, base metals and industrial mineral projects. He has managed exploration programs throughout the western and eastern U.S., Alaska, Canada, Mexico and Central America and has been closely involved with several new discoveries and successful exploration and development efforts. As a consultant, Mr. Rogers has served many clients, a partial list of which include Nord Pacific Ltd, Nord Resources Corporation, Augusta Resources, CopperOne Resources, Minera Cordilleras, Canarc Resources, Meridian Gold Company, Placer Dome, Hudson Bay Mining and BHP Minerals. Previous to his consulting activity, Mr. Rogers worked as an exploration geologist for Phillips Uranium and as an exploration manager for Texasgulf Inc. Mr. Rogers holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from California State University, and Bachelor and Master Degrees in Geology from Northern Arizona University.
Erland A. Anderson, Technical Manager Mining
Erland A. (Andy) Anderson joined Santa Fe Gold Corp as Technical Manager Mining in August 2010. His duties include mine engineering, mine planning and a variety of administrative functions at the Summit Mine. He works closely with the Mine Superintendent and provides advice on day-to-day operating activities. Mr. Anderson has 37 years experience in mine management and technical services largely focused on underground mines in North and South America. He also has consulted extensively on new project development. His work experience includes 14 years with St. Joe Resources Company where he held senior supervisory positions on a number of mines and also the corporate position of Director, Mine Technical Services and Planning. Among positions he held with several other companies were President, Vice president and Senior Operations Manager for Nord Resources Corporation, and Manager, US Operations for A.C.A. Howe International. Mr. Anderson holds an A.A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological Institute.
Patrick S. Freeman, Acting Manager, Ortiz Project
Patrick S. (Pat) Freeman was appointed Acting General Manager of Lordsburg Mining Company in January 2011, with operational responsibility for the Summit project, including the Summit Mine and Banner Mill. In January 2008, he joined Santa Fe Gold to manage construction of the Summit project and subsequently served as a senior consultant. Mr. Freeman has 40 years experience in development and operation of underground and open pit mines. As president of St. Cloud Mining from 1986 until 2007, he was responsible for the successful development and operation of numerous underground mining and reclamation projects within New Mexico. Previously, he worked for Texasgulf in worldwide mine evaluation and for Golden Cycle in deep underground mines in Colorado. Mr. Freeman holds a Bachelors Degree in Geology from Monmouth College.
Curtis Floyd, Vice President, Lordsburg Mining Company and Banne
Curtis Floyd was appointed Mill Superintendent of the Banner Mill in September 2010. He joined Santa Fe Gold in October 2008 as Construction Foreman with the task of mill refurbishment and construction at the Lordsburg mill site. Upon mill start-up in April 2010, he became Assistant Mill Superintendent under Mr. Bob Lowery, until Mr. Lowery’s retirement. As Mill Superintendent, Mr. Floyd’s duties include operation and administration of the Banner Mill and assay laboratory. He supervises mill crews on a daily basis, closely monitors mill performance, coordinates milling activities in association with delivery of ore from the Summit Mine, ensures that final mill products meet specifications for sales, and arranges shipments of final products to customers. Mr. Floyd has 19 years experience in supervision of construction activities, mechanical maintenance, and operation and maintenance of mining equipment. His work experience includes 11 years with Phelps Dodge Corporation at the Chino Copper Mine and Playas Smelter, and 5 years with St. Cloud Mining Company. Mr. Floyd holds an Associate Degree in Applied Science from New Mexico State University.
Dennis Dalton , Summit Mine Manager
Dennis Dalton joined Santa Fe Gold in October 2010 as Assistant Mine Superintendent at the Summit Mine. His duties include mine engineering, surveying, ore control and directing mine crews on a daily basis. Mr. Dalton has 25 years experience in mine geology and engineering, mine supervision and environmental engineering. His work experience includes 11 years with the Bunker Hill Company where he held a number of engineering, operating, geological and administrative positions on underground mines. Among other companies he worked for as a geologist and engineer were Barrick Goldstrike Mines, Inc. and Nord Resources Corporation. Mr. Dalton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of California and a Masters of Science Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Nevada. He is a Certified Professional Geologist, AIPG, and is a NI 43-101 Qualified Person.
