Executives

Yale Simpson, Executive Chairman
Yale Simpson is the Executive Chairman of Exeter and a professional geologist. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Geological Engineering) from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Yale has more than 30 years experience as a senior geologist, exploration manager and CEO of companies involved in precious metals projects in Australia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Argentina. Those companies included Pennzoil Company, Chevron Exploration, Australmin Holdings, Black Swan Gold Mines Ltd. and Argosy Minerals Inc. Importantly, he and his exploration teams are credited with the exploration and development of several gold mines. His particular expertise is in strategic resource planning and corporate communications. Yale is currently the Co-Chairman of Extorre Gold Mines and a director of Diamonds North Resources Ltd., Dynasty Metals and Mining Inc. and Rugby Mining Limited.
Bryce Roxburgh, President
Bryce Roxburgh graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology and geophysics from Sydney University in 1971. He has 40 years experience in the exploration and mining industry. Between 1971 and 1989, he worked for Amoco Minerals Australia Company and Cyprus Mines Corporation, where as Regional Manager for Eastern Australia & South East Asia he was responsible for the exploration teams which discovered the Selwyn, Red Dome and Junction Reef ore-bodies. Between 1989 and 1998, he was Exploration Manager for Arimco N.L. and Climax Mining Limited in East Australia, South East Asia and South America where he was responsible for the teams which discovered the Dinkidi ore-body in the Philippines, and the Don Sixto gold deposit in Argentina. In 2003 he and colleague Yale Simpson secured control of a dormant TSX Venture company and established Exeter Resource Corporation focussing on gold and copper projects in South America. As Exeter’s very large Caspiche gold-copper porphyry in Chile had a very different development profile from the high grade gold-silver Cerro Moro Project in Argentina, Cerro Moro was successfully spun out to Extorre Gold Mines Ltd in March 2010, with shareholders receiving one new share in Extorre for each share held in Exeter. He remains CEO of Exeter and is Executive co-Chairman of Extorre, and Chairman of Rugby Mining Limited.
Louis G. Montpellier, Director
Louis Montpellier has been practising law in Vancouver, British Columbia since 1981 and since 1983 has worked exclusively in the capital markets as counsel to emerging issuers and listed public companies engaged in mineral exploration and mining. During that period, Mr. Montpellier has assisted a wide range of businesses in the entire spectrum of corporate finance activities, from accessing seed capital for private companies through to IPO's and subsequent public and private financings. Mr. Montpellier has worked extensively in the field of mergers and acquisitions, hostile and friendly take-over bids, proxy contests, corporate reorganizations and arrangements. Mr. Montpellier also has experience in debt and project financing, acting both for lenders and borrowers, with a particular emphasis on the financing of mineral projects.
Robert G Reynolds, Director
A Chartered Accountant has been involved in exploration and resource development companies for 28 years. He has held various positions, including that of Executive Director of Delta Gold Ltd. from 1987 to 1996, responsible for corporate planning, finance and administration. He also participated in the development of the Granny Smith and Kanowna Belle mines in Western Australia, and the Hartley Platinum Mine in Zimbabwe. Currently Robert is the Chairman of successful Australian gold explorer, Avoca Resources Ltd.
Julian Bavin, Director
Julian Bavin is an independent director. He has 30 years of technical, operational and commercial experience in mineral exploration gained from work in a wide range of commodities, jurisdictions and cultures most of which was spent with the Rio Tinto Group in South America, Australia, Indonesia and Europe. From 2001 to 2009 he was responsible for the Rio Tinto exploration in South America and the teams which identified the potential in a range of projects now in various stages of feasibility including the PRC potash and Altar copper/gold projects in Argentina, the Mina Justa, Constancia and La Granja copper projects in Peru, and the Amargosa bauxite project in Brazil.
Douglas Scheving, Director
Douglas Scheving graduated with Diplomas of Technology in Mining and Extractive Metallurgy from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1972 and has 20 years experience as a mill superintendent and 10 years experience in the administration of public mining exploration companies. He has worked for Falconbridge at their Wesfrob iron copper mine and also at their Salmita Gold Mine in the Northwest Territories. He has also worked as mill superintendent at Mosquito Creek Gold Mines and the Sumac Ventures heap leach gold operation. Mr. Scheving was contractor and General Manager for the British Columbia Ministry of Environment for three years at a cyanide remediation and detoxification project near Grand Forks B.C. In 1993 Mr. Scheving became involved with public mining exploration companies and has provided administration services to Exeter Resource Corporation (then Golden Glacier Resources Inc.) and Golden Dynasty Resources Limited starting in 1996.
John Simmons, Director
John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and has been involved in public practice in various capacities for over 40 years, and continues to manage an accounting practice in downtown Sydney. His extensive experience includes advising on taxation and strategic planning matters as well as financial management and general business advisory. He has previously served as a director of a number of public companies which have been taken over or merged with other companies including Eastern Australia Airlines Limited (now part of Qantas) and Salamander Gold Mines NL which was taken over by Climax Mining Limited (now part of Oceana Gold Corp.). He maintains an active involvement in the mining industry through association with an operating mining company in Queensland, Australia.
Cecil Bond, CFO
Cecil is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of experience in public and private companies. Over the last 15 years he has held various positions in a number of public exploration companies with activities in Canada, South America, Africa, Europe and Australia. He is currently Chief Financial Officer of Exeter and also serves as a director or holds senior positions in a number of other public and private companies. He has successfully managed capital raisings and the recent spin out of Exeter’s high grade gold/ silver Cerro Moro project in Argentina to Extorre Gold Mines Limited.
Gonzalo Damond, Commercial Manager
Gonzalo Damond is an Industrial/ Electronic/ Civil Engineer and graduated with specializations in commercial and logistic areas from Mariscal Sucre University and has 12 years experience in operational and management positions within significant multinational companies. He has been responsible for the design, organization and commissioning of large distribution centers. He has substantial experience in purchase management - especially large volume transactions and has negotiated supply contracts with major wholesale companies. Within the operations field he has managed railway logistics between Argentina and Brazil as well as intermodal operations for Chilean ports. In carrying out these functions Gonzalo gained substantial experience in establishing constructive relationships with communities, clients, trade unions and Government authorities.
Jerry Perkins, VP Development & Operations
Jerry has a chemical engineering background and over 35 years experience in the mining and metallurgical industry in technical, operational and corporate management positions in NSW, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as South Africa, UK and Papua New Guinea. He has specialised in mineral project development programs and feasibility studies, and in market development roles throughout Australasia and in North and South America, Europe, Southern Africa, China, Japan, Indonesia and other SE Asian countries. Jerry's expertise includes mine production and commissioning; test work and R&D programs; engineering and process design, operations management, project development and optimization. It also includes environmental design and management, OH & S as well as stakeholder, community, government and public relations. Jerry has worked on many major mining projects and his commodity experience includes gold, PGMs, copper, lead-zinc, nickel-cobalt, tin, uranium, vanadium, coal, gemstones and various industrial minerals.
Justin Tolman, General Manager - Chile
Justin Tolman graduated with 1st class Honours in Applied Science from James Cook University in 1998 and holds an MBA from La Trobe University. He was awarded the Exploration Industry Prize for Geological Mapping for his thesis. Justin has over15 years experience working in exploration, mine geology, project management and project generation in a wide range of mineralisation styles and environments. Mining experience includes open cut and underground mine geology at Charters Towers and Mount Isa, culminating in a resource modeling role for the Isa Open cut pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. Regional exploration work includes leading teams in the remote Tanami Desert and SE Australia, where as the project manager Justin led the team that discovered the McPhillamy’s gold deposit in NSW, Australia. Justin commenced with Exeter in May 2008 and is currently responsible for management and operations in Chile including the companies flagship Caspiche project. He is a member of the AusIMM and the SEG.
Rob Grey, Vice President Corporate Communications
Rob Grey is Vice President – Corporate Communications for Exeter. He is a Business College graduate who began his career with Telus Mobility in Corporate Sales. In a four year period he achieved “top of sales” in a very competitive field. Over a ten year period Rob worked as an equity sales assistant before advancing into investor communications for Exeter. In 2007 he was appointed Vice President – Communications for Exeter, a role in which he works directly with senior management in developing and managing investor outreach programs at institutional and retail levels.
Oscar Hernandez, Exploration Manager - Maricunga Region
Oscar Hernandez, an engineering geologist from the University of Chihuahua in Mexico, with 12 years of exploration geology experience in Mexico and South America. After completing a postgraduate degree in hydrogeology, he worked as a regional mapper for the Mexican Geological Service and later for the Palmerejo Project in Chihuahua, Mexico. Since September 2006 Oscar has worked for Exeter Resources at the Caspiche Project where he was part of the team which drilled the first exploration holes in the project and was supervising the drilling program which drilled the discovery hole at the Caspiche project, CSD013 (“lucky number 13”). Since then he has been an integral part of the exploration activities and success within the Maricunga district for Exeter.
Matthew Dorman, Caspiche Study Manager
Matthew Dorman is a project manager with over 25 years international experience in the mining & metals sector covering technical due diligence studies through to plant construction and operations. Matthew has an excellent understanding of the particular challenges associated with bringing mineral projects through to successful completion. Recent experience includes: Completion of the Caspiche prefeasibility studies for Exeter Resource Corporation and the Angostura Project feasibility study (FS) for Greystar Resources plus work on environmental and various levels of technical studies in the Western Kyrgyz Republic; Kazakhstan and Peru.
During his career, Matthew has also been CEO of an AIM listed company; board member of UK registered private companies; has managed the design and construction of gold projects in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Honduras and design of large copper projects in Chile, Peru and Kazakhstan amongst others. He has acted as Client Representative on the design and construction of gold projects in Niger and Morocco and has managed and operated gold and base metals operations in Uruguay, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia and Mauretania. His responsibilities have included the financial and legal compliance of client companies both locally and internationally, together with the implementation of internationally recognised safety and environmental procedures.
