Al Monaco was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on October 1, 2012. He is also a member of the Enbridge Inc. Board of Directors. Prior to being appointed President of Enbridge Inc. in February 2012, Mr. Monaco served as President, Gas Pipelines, Green Energy & International with responsibility for the growth and operations of Enbridgeâ€™s gas pipelines, including the Gas Gathering & Processing operations in the United States, Enbridge's Gulf Coast Offshore assets and the Companyâ€™s investments in Alliance, Vector and Aux Sable, as well as Enbridge's International business development and investment activities and Green Energy. Mr. Monaco has more than 30 years experience in the energy business including the upstream oil and gas exploration, development and pipelines businesses. Since joining Enbridge in 1995, he has held positions including Executive Vice President, Major Projects & Green Energy, and as President, Enbridge Gas Distribution; Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning and Development; and Vice President, Financial Services and Treasurer for Enbridge's U.S.-based master limited partnership.
J. Richard Bird,
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Development
As Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Development, Richard Bird is responsible for all financial affairs of the company and corporate planning, mergers, acquisitions and corporate development. Mr. Bird joined Enbridge in 1995 as Vice President and Treasurer after holding senior financial executive positions at a number of other public companies. He has also served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning & Development. He led Enbridge's involvement in winning the gas distribution franchise for New Brunswick, and acquiring the natural gas pipeline and gathering and processing business of Midcoast Energy. Mr. Bird led the acquisition of the public minority interest of Enbridge Consumers Gas, established Enbridge's 32% interest in Noverco Inc. and led the successful launch of Enbridge Income Fund. Mr. Bird served most recently as Executive Vice President, Liquids Pipelines, including responsibility for initiatives to secure $12 billion of crude oil pipeline development opportunities. Mr. Bird was also named Canada's CFO of the Year in 2010.
Executive Vice President, Western Access
As Executive Vice President, Western Access, Janet Holder is responsible for the overall leadership of the Northern Gateway Pipelines Project, providing oversight in advancing the project. Previously, Janet was appointed President, Gas Distribution, Enbridge Inc., a role she held since January 2008. Janet has spent much of her Enbridge career in Gas Distribution, and also held senior roles in Corporate and Liquids Pipelines. Janet was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of Hydro One Inc. effective July 1, 2010. She also serves on the Boards of Saint Elizabeth Health Care and Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation (Chair). She was also the 2011 United Way Toronto Campaign Chair and in 2009 and 2011 was named as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by the Women's Executive Network.
