Objective of Aberdeen New Dawn Investment Trust Plc: The Company is an investment trust and its shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange. The Company is a member of the Association of Investment Companies. The objective of Aberdeen New Dawn Investment Trust PLC is to provide shareholders with a high level of capital growth through equity investment in the Asia Pacific countries excluding Japan. In addition, it is the Investment policy of the company to invest in no more than 15 per cent of its gross assets in other listed investment companies (including listed investment trusts).

David Shearer, Chairman
David Shearer is a board level strategic advisor and turnaround specialist. He is chairman of Mouchel Group plc and was previously chairman of Crest Nicholson PLC and a non-executive director of City Inn Limited, where he led the successful restructuring of these respective businesses. He is also a non-executive director of STV Group plc, Mithras Investment Trust PLC and Martin Currie Holdings Limited.
John Lorimer, Audit Committee Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director
John Lorimer was appointed a Director on 1 January 2010. Previously, he held a number of management positions in Citigroup prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, where he was group head of finance and latterly group head of compliance and regulatory risk.
Susie Rippingall, Independent Non-Executive Director
Ms Rippingall is a non-executive director of NTAsian Discovery Fund and Sovereign Asset Management Limited. From 1995 she worked for First State Stewart Investment Management (formerly Stewart Ivory) and was Portfolio Manager of the Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust Plc from 2001 until her retirement in April 2013.
Marion Sears, Independent Non-Executive Director
Marion Sears had an executive career in stockbroking and investment banking and was latterly a Managing Director of Investment Banking at JPMorgan. She is also a non-executive director of Persimmon plc, Dunelm Group plc, Fidelity European Values plc and Octopus AIM VCT plc.
Hugh Young, Non-Executive Director
Hugh was appointed to the Board on 22 March 2011. Hugh Young is managing director of Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Limited, the Aberdeen Group’s regional HQ and group head of equities as well as a member of the executive committee responsible for the Aberdeen Group’s day-to-day running.

He co-founded Singapore-based Aberdeen Asia in 1992, having been recruited in 1985 to manage Asian equities from London. Since then he has built the company into one of the largest managers of such assets globally. Singapore employs over 150 staff, while there are 65 investment managers stationed across the region, with offices also in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand over which Hugh is in overall charge.

Aberdeen’s regional funds have won many awards for performance over the years, including open ended and closed-end funds. Hugh is a regular commentator for the financial media. His early career included spells at Fidelity International and MGM Assurance.

Hugh graduated with a BA (Hons) in politics from Exeter University.
