Fidelity Japanese Values PLC is a Closed-End Investment Fund/Investment Trust. As from the 1 September 2015 the Portfolio Manager is Nicholas Price. He focuses on a ‘growth at reasonable price’ investment style and approach which involves identifying companies whose growth prospects are being under-appreciated or are not fully recognised by other investors. His investment process leads him to focus on medium-sized and smaller companies, where lower levels of analyst coverage creates more frequent or greater mispriced growth opportunities.

David Robins, Chairman
(Date of appointment: 1 February 2011; appointed Chairman on 10 May 2012) is the Senior Independent Director of SVG Capital plc and a Director of NHBS Limited and Seralux Inc. Previously, he was Chairman of the Asian Total Return Investment Company plc and Chairman and Chief Executive of ING Barings following 18 years with UBS, most recently as Executive Vice President Europe having spent several years in Zurich, New York and Tokyo. Prior to this he was, in succession, a Japanese Economist at the Bank of England, an Executive in the Japanese department of James Capel and then Far Eastern Economist and subsequently Chief International Economist at Philips & Drew. He began his career with the Commonwealth Bank in Sydney.
Sir Laurence Magnus, Chairman of the Audit Committee
(Date of appointment: 1 October 2010; appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee: 12 May 2011) is a Senior Advisor to Evercore Partners, the US listed corporate finance advisory business, Chairman of English Heritage, Non Executive Director of Aggregated Micropower Holdings plc and a Director or trustee of a number of private companies and charities. Previously he worked for Samuel Montagu & Co Limited (HSBC Investment Bank) in a corporate finance advisory capacity, including a number of years spent in Singapore with responsibilities in South East Asia. He was subsequently, in succession, a Director of Phoenix Securities, a Managing Director of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and a Managing Director of Credit Suisse First Boston before joining Lexicon Partners in 2001, initially as Deputy Chairman and subsequently as Chairman prior to its merger with Evercore in 2011. He is Chairman of J.P. Morgan Income & Capital Trust PLC and a Director of The Cayenne Trust PLC and Pantheon International Participations plc.
Philip Kay, Director
(Date of appointment:29 October 2004; date of appointment as Senior Independent Director 24 May 2016) is a former Managing Director and Senior Advisor of Credit Suisse First Boston where he ran the global Japanese cash equity business. He is a Director of two Japanese hedge funds, the Akamatsu Fund and the Akamatsu Bonsai Fund, a Director of Counterpoint Asian Macro Fund, and is a fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford. Previously he was a Director of Schroder Securities Limited and of Smith New Court PLC.
Dominic Ziegler, Director
(Date of appointment: 17 November 2014) currently holds the post of Asia Editor at The Economist in London. Mr Ziegler has over 25 years’ experience in top-flight journalism and commentary, with a special expertise in East Asian affairs, particularly Japan, having previously served as The Economist’s Tokyo Bureau Chief.
Sarah MacAulay, Director
(Date of appointment: 22 May 2018) has twenty years of Asian investment experience in London and Hong Kong, managing and marketing portfolios across numerous jurisdictions. She is a non-executive Director of Schroder Asian Total Return Investment Company plc and Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust plc. She is also a non-executive Director of JPMorgan Multi-Asset Trust plc, of which Sir Laurie Magnus is also a non-executive Director. She served as a non-executive Director of JP Morgan Income and Capital Trust plc from 2016 to 2018.
David Graham, Director
(Date of appointment: 22 May 2018) is a Chartered Accountant by training (PwC) whose career has been in investment management, firstly as a Japanese and Asian fund manager with Lazards in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo and then building businesses, establishing offices and managing client relationships across Japan, Asia Pacific, UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa for BlackRock. He is currently a non-executive Director of both Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc and JPMorgan Chinese Investment Trust plc as well as an Advisor to BlackRock in Asia Pacific and one of BlackRock’s nominated Directors on the Board of DSP BlackRock, a fund management joint venture in India
