Punjab National Bank is the second largest bank of the country with about 6000 branches and 6000 ATMs. The total business of the bank is over 6.5 lakh crores and has a customer base of over 7.5 crore. The bank has strong pan India presence and are also present in 10 international destinations. Domlur branch is the 69th branch of the PNB in Karnataka.

Shri K.R. Kamath, Chairman and Managing Director
Shri K.R. Kamath joined as Chairman & Managing Director of Punjab National Bank on October 28, 2009. Prior to his current assignment, Shri Kamath spent almost three decades in Corporation Bank before moving on to Bank of India as Executive Director in May 2006 and then to Allahabad Bank as Chairman & Managing Director in August 2008. Recently, Shri K.R. Kamath has been re-elected as the Chairman of Indian Banks’ Association (IBA). He is also the Chairman of Governing Board of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Shri Kamath is also the President of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) and Bankers’ Club, Delhi. He is the member of Governing Board of National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), Pune and Governing Council of Institute for Development & Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad. Known for his conceptual clarity, insight, communication skills and ability to build result oriented teams, Shri K.R. Kamath has led initiatives for promoting sound and efficient corporate governance practices in the banks he headed. Accomplishments: Shri Kamath has been successful in changing the public perception about PNB and improving rankings of the Bank on various prestigious platforms is evidence to the fact. Under the leadership of Shri Kamath, PNB’s rank improved from 239th in 2009 to 175th in 2012 in The Banker’s Top 1000 Banks of the World. Recently, Shri K.R. Kamath, CMD, PNB has been adjudged the Most Powerful CEOs amongst the Nationalised Banks in India by Economic Times. The overall rank in the list improves to 39 in 2013 from 50 last year by Economic Times. Under the motivating leadership of Shri K.R. Kamath, the Bank has won many prestigious Awards in varied fields. To name a few amongst the recently won Awards are Golden Peacock Business Excellence Award 2013 by Institute of Directors, Most Socially Responsive Bank by Businessworld PwC for the second time in a row, “Best Public Sector Bank” by CNBC TV 18 India, Indian Banks’ Association’s awards for Best Use of Business Intelligence, Best Risk Management & Security Initiative, Asia Pacific HRM Congress Awards for “Organization with Innovative HR practices”, Asia’s Best Employer Brand Award under the category “Excellence in Training”, Best Bankers’ Awards under Agriculture Lending (Large Banks) by The Sunday Standard, Best Public Sector Bank under Priority Sector Lending by Dun & Bradstreet Polaris. Bank was also conferred with the National Award for excellent performance in lending under PMEGP Scheme of KVIC in North Zone by Ministry of MSME, GOI. His inspiring guidance has helped Bank to win awards in the past also viz. Best Bank Award 2011 by Business India, “Overall Most Productive Public Sector Bank” by FICCI and IBA, SCOPE Trophy for “Best Managed Bank” for the year 2009-10, Golden Peacock Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility and HR Excellence for the year 2011, etc. Under his guidance, Bank has also got distinction of being the first Bank in India to get an approval from Reserve Bank of India for migrating to “The Standardized Approach” for Operational Risk on a pilot basis. Other Positions Held: Present: Shri Kamath is the Chairman of PNB Housing Finance Ltd., PNB Gilts Ltd., PNB (International) Ltd. and PNB Investment Services Ltd. He is Director on the Boards of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (ECGC), India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd (IIFCL) and PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Ltd. (PMLIC). He is also member on the Board of Trustees of Credit Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) and Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing. Past: Shri Kamath was the Chairman of All Bank Finance Ltd. and President of Bankers’ Club, Kolkata. He also held the Directorships in Indo Zambia Bank Ltd., Lusaka, Zambia, Bank of India (Tanzania) Ltd., P.T. Bank Swadesi, Djakarta, Indonesia, Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. Ltd, Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. (OIC), Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Ltd., BOI Shareholding Ltd. and ASREC (India) Ltd. Transform to outperform: After having remained amongst the front runners of Indian Banking Industry, he has pro-actively rolled out “Organizational Transformation and Business Excellence Programme” viz. ‘PNB Pragati’ for future capacity building to meet expectations of the stakeholders of the Bank. He was also instrumental in PNB acquiring 30% stake in a profit making MNC Insurance Company PNB MetLife through an open and transparent process which has been hailed as a benchmark in the industry.
Shri Rakesh Sethi, Executive Director
Shri Rakesh Sethi has taken over as Executive Director of Punjab National Bank on January 1, 2011. Prior to joining the Bank, he was the General Manager of Andhra Bank. Born on April 30, 1957, Shri Sethi is the Gold Medalist in Master of Commerce from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He started his banking career from Andhra Bank in December 1978 as a Manager. In a career spanning over 32 years, he has worked in various positions and has acquired a rich experience in banking. Besides handling varied assignments, he also handled Home Finance Company of Andhra Bank for four years. In the Head Office, he was in charge of Integrated Risk Management, Deposit Planning, Corporate Communications and government Business. Shri Sethi has attended Management Programme at Kellogg’s School of Management, USA and Advances Programme at Seoul. He also attended road shows of the bank in UK, Scotland and USA.
Smt. Usha Ananthasubramanian, Executive Director
Smt. Usha Ananthasubramanian has taken over as Executive Director of Punjab National Bank on 19th July 2011. Prior to joining the Bank, she was General Manager in Bank of Baroda. Born on 1st October 1958, Smt. Usha holds a Master’s Degree in Statistics from the University of Madras and a Master’s degree in Ancient Indian Culture from University of Mumbai. She started her banking career in February 1982 as a Specialist Officer in the Planning stream of Bank of Baroda. In a career spanning over 29 years, she has worked in various positions and has acquired rich experience. The key assignments include Zonal Head of Southern Zone of Bank of Baroda, Life Insurance Joint Venture formation and Secretary to the Board of Directors. She has been closely associated with the transformation project of Bank of Baroda including rebranding and innovative HR initiatives. Smt. Usha has attended Leadership Development Programme at MDI, Gurgaon, Leadership & Corporate Excellence Management Programme at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago. and the Top Management Programme at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Shri S R Bansal, Executive Director
Shri S R Bansal has taken over as third Executive Director of Punjab National Bank on June 18, 2012. Prior to joining the Bank, he was Field General Manager at Dena Bank, North India operations, covering 8 states and 1 Union Territory. Sh. S R Bansal, a post graduate in English and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). He started his banking career in 1981 with Dena Bank as a direct recruit officer. In his career spanning over 31 years, he served Pan India with experience at Branch, Regional Office, Zonal Office and Head Office levels. He has deep insight in credit and project appraisal. During his tenure in Dena Bank, he managed credit function at various levels continuously for over 20 years and spanning all segments viz., retail, agriculture, SME, midcorporate and large corporate. He has headed a large branch and was Regional Head of North India and Mumbai branches. He is known for result oriented approach, team work and fast decision. He was on deputation from Dena Bank to India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd. (IIFCL) where he undertook setting up and organizing the credit functions including project appraisal/due diligence, sanction of loans, monitoring of loan and credit risk management. He was a member of the Indian Banks’ Association committee for evolving a framework for monitoring of infrastructure projects. He was also associated in negotiations with multilateral and bilateral institutions like Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), KfW, etc. Shri Bansal has been a speaker in seminars and conferences organized by various forums like FICCI, CII, etc. and in International conferences organized in Singapore and Dubai. He was also invited by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad as a speaker on infrastructure financing. Further he visited Tokyo, Japan for executing the MoU with JBIC for financing the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and was member of the study team on power equipment manufacturing companies in China.
