Vivek Gambhir is the Managing Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). Vivek joined Godrej Industries in 2009 as Chief Strategy Officer and was responsible for enhancing the strategic capabilities within the group companies, guiding overall group strategy, conducting portfolio analysis, leading mergers and acquisitions and driving special projects.
Under Vivek's leadership, the Group's planning processes became more robust. He helped define the CREATE portfolio strategy and the 10X10 objective for the Group. Vivek also led the finance, investor relations, legal and IT functions for Godrej Industries. He was also the secretary to the Godrej Family Business Board (FBB). He leads the Economic Value Added (EVA) committee for the Group and serves on the investment committee for Omnivore Capital, an agriculture technology focused venture fund backed by the Godrej Group.
In his role as Chief Strategy Officer, Vivek was very closely involved with GCPL. He was the key architect of GCPL's 3 by 3 strategy, led mergers and acquisitions and was instrumental in driving the company's international expansion efforts. He co-led Project Neo that developed the blueprint for integrating the erstwhile Godrej Sara Lee Business with GCPL. He also led the process for a private equity investment in the Company.
Prior to joining the Godrej Group, Vivek was a partner at Bain & Company, one of the world's leading business consulting firms. He worked with Bain in Boston, Singapore and New Delhi. He was a founding member of Bain's consulting operations in India and led the firm's FMCG practice in India.
Vivek has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS (Computer Science) and BA (Economics) from Lafayette College.
Vivek has written numerous columns for leading business publications on a variety of issues such as organizational transformation, innovation, brand profitability and sales force effectiveness.
Vivek is married to Roopika, who is a photographer. They have three children. Along with his family, he loves to travel to offbeat places.
Nisa is Executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products and leads the innovation strategy for the company. Nisa also oversees the corporate strategy and human capital functions for Godrej Industries and Associate Companies (GILAC). She is responsible for driving the Group's transformation efforts including efforts to attract and develop outstanding talent and make the culture more agile and innovative.
Nisa's previous assignments within the Godrej Group have included the successful turnaround of Godrej Agrovet. She has also led the creation of a strategy cell for the group and the development of the FMCG strategy for the Group. This has included creating a five year roadmap for Godrej Consumer Products, outlining category choices and instituting a M&A cell with a focused playbook that led to eight acquisitions between 2009 and 2011.
Nisa drives the Group's 'Good and Green' (CSR) initiatives and is the point person for the operations of the Godrej Family Council. She is on the Board of Directors of Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Agrovet and Teach For India. Nisa has a BSc degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is passionate about girl's education, the human mind, design, trekking and equestrian sports.
President, International Business
Shashank Sinha is President, International Business, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). An MNC veteran who has worked for over twenty years across FMCG multinationals, he has wide international experience in a variety of leadership roles with Sara Lee Corporation and Reckitt Benckiser plc.
Shashank was the President and CEO of Sara Lee South East Asia from 2005 to 2008, based in Malaysia. Prior to that, he was based in Paris as the President of Sara Lee International, with global responsibility for the Kiwi brand. He has also served as the Regional Marketing Director of Sara Lee Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, and as the General Manager & CEO of Sara Lee China based in Shanghai.
Shashank joined Reckitt & Colman in India in 1991 as a Product Manager and was responsible for the launch of Mortein insecticides in India and South Asia. His extensive international career commenced in 1998 with a stint as the Regional Category Director for Reckitt's Latin America region, which took him to Argentina and Brazil. Following the merger of Reckitt & Colman and Benckiser in 2000, he moved to the global head office of Reckitt Benckiser in London, where he was a Global Category Director.
Shashank has managed a broad range of FMCG businesses across emerging markets: Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific and Indo-China. In 2008, he returned to India as an Executive Director and Operating Head for Asia Pacific's largest private equity buyout fund, Navis Capital Partners. He also served on the board of several Navis portfolio companies, in executive and non-executive capacities.
Shashank has a background in engineering. He received his master's in management in 1987 with a PGDM from IIM Lucknow's first batch.
Dr. Rakesh Sinha,
Chief Operating Officer – Global Supply Chain
Dr. Rakesh Sinha is Chief Operating Officer – Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Information Technology, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).
Rakesh has headed several functions in Godrej Soaps including Strategic Planning, Information Systems and Marketing. He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) and is actively involved in several key initiatives within the company like E-Commerce and Efficient Consumer Response (ECR). He is also a member of the Academic Council of National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai and the Academic Board of the Welingkar Institute, Mumbai.
Rakesh completed his B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from I.T., BHU and post graduation in Industrial Management from NITIE. He has been a gold medalist throughout his academic career. Rakesh joined Godrej Soaps as a Management Trainee in 1980. While working with Godrej Soaps, he continued his academic pursuit and completed his ICWA, CFA and Ph.D. from I.I.T., Bombay. Rakesh holds the distinction of being the first doctorate in Supply Chain Management in India and serves as guest faculty at several leading Management Institutes in India..
Rakesh enjoys trekking and music. He lives in Mumbai with his wife and daughter.
