Harsh Mariwala founded Marico in 1990 and transformed a traditional commodity driven business into a leading Consumer Products & Services Company, in the Beauty and Wellness space. Today, Marico touches the lives of 1 out of every 4 Indians, with its portfolio of trusted brands such as Parachute, Saffola, Nihar, Kaya, Mediker, Revive, among others. During 2010-11, Marico recorded a turnover of Rs. 31.3 billion (about USD 695 Million) through its products and services sold in India and 25 other countries in Asia and Africa. Under Harsh Mariwala's leadership, Marico was awarded the NDTV Profit ‘Best Business Leadership’ Award in the FMCG (Personal Hygiene) category, in 2007 and 2009, and was rated as one of India's Most Innovative companies by the Business Today - Monitor Group Innovation Study (2008). Harsh Mariwala was conferred with the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award (2009) in the Manufacturing category, ‘Talent Management Award’ at the CNBC India Business Leader Award (2009), the ‘Teacher’s Achievement Award in Business’ (2006) and the ‘CEO with HR Orientation’ - Global Excellence HR Award (2007) by the Asia Pacific HRM Congress. Harsh Mariwala’s entrepreneurial drive and passion for Innovation, enthused him to establish the Marico Innovation Foundation in 2003. Under the stewardship of an eminent Board, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to fuel innovation in India. In addition, Harsh Mariwala also mentors a group of young and upcoming entrepreneurs, in association with TiE – The Indus Entrepreneurs - a part of TiE’s Mentor Programme. In March 2011, Harsh Mariwala was elected as the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also on the Board of Cadbury India Limited. In the past, he has held several positions as the FMCG Committee Chairman of FICCI and CII. Harsh Mariwala is also a part of the Young President Organization (YPO) and World Presidents Organization (WPO) and has held the position of YPO Education, Membership and Chapter Chair.
Suagata Gupta, CEO
Saugata Gupta, CEO, Marico Limited leads the Company's operations in India and the International markets. Saugata joined Marico Limited in January 2004 as head of Marketing. In the year 2007 he was elevated to become the CEO of the Company's India business. Prior to joining Marico, Saugata was Chief of Marketing and Group Sales at ICICI Prudential and was part of the start up team that was instrumental in establishing ICICI Pru as the largest private sector Insurance firm in the country. Saugata started his career with Cadbury's where he spent 9 years in various roles in Sales and Marketing. His last role was Marketing Manager - Chocolates. Saugata has 20 years of experience primarily in FMCG sector. He has an engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur and a Management degree from IIM Bangalore
Milind Sarwate, Group CFO
Milind S. Sarwate, 53, is Marico's Group CFO and a member of its Group Executive Committee. Milind's current role at Marico covers Corporate Finance, Legal & Secretarial, M&A, Investor Relations, Internal Audit and Administration. Milind joined Marico in 1998, as the CFO. He has led Marico's efforts in Shareholder Value Creation (up nearly 20 times over the past 15 years), Acquisitions / Alliances (12 acquisitions over past 7 years and 3 divestments), Corporate Structuring, Corporate Communication, Information Technology, Performance Management & identification of Marico's Purpose – "Be More. Every Day."
He has about 30 years of experience in Finance, HR, Strategic Planning, Corporate Development and Product Supply, across three organizations- Marico, Godrej and Hoechst (now, Sanofi Aventis). Milind holds Non-executive Directorship in two listed companies- Geometric Ltd and the Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills Ltd. He is the Chairman of the Audit Committees of both these companies. In addition, he is a non-executive director in Hindustan Polyamides and Fibres Ltd (a specialty chemicals Company), and a few other companies including those in the Marico Group. He was a Member (2004-07) of Board of Governors, Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc. Mumbai Chapter. Milind is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary (1983-84), and a B. Com. (Honours) from the University of Bombay (1979). During 1996, he was one of the two Indian managers selected for the CII-Fulbright Fellowship for Leadership in Management at the Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U S A. Milind has received the ICAI Award 2011 in CFO - FMCG category, instituted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the CNBC TV-18 Best Performing CFO Award -FMCG & Retail-2012. In March 2013, the CFO India magazine inducted Milind to the CFO India Hall of Fame.
Ashutosh Telang, Executive Vice President and Global Head Human Resources
Ashutosh Telang is the Executive Vice President and Global Head Human Resources at Marico Limited. Ashutosh joined Marico in 1999 and since then, held several leadership positions in Corporate HR and Organizational Development. His unique and insightful strategies have been crucial in orchestrating organizational change through leadership development and culture building. Prior to Marico, Ashutosh was associated with pharmaceutical companies like E Merck and Ranbaxy Laboratories. Over the years, his experience has covered various hues of Human Resources - from talent sourcing, talent management & development to employee relations and organization development. Ashutosh holds a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and a Masters in Labour Studies from Mumbai University.
B. Sridhar, Executive Vice President and Business Head - International Markets
Sridhar brings with him 18 years of experience and currently heads Marico's International Units of Marico Bangladesh Limited, EM SEANS, Marico Middle East & Rest of Africa. He is responsible for delivery of top line and bottom line of the above mentioned units. He has led Sales, Business Finance and Supply Chain for Marico's India business in the past where he was responsible for developing and deploying the strategic road map for the above mentioned functions. Before joining Marico, he was associated with companies like Tata Steel and Pepsi. Sridhar holds a B-Tech in Electronics from IT BHU and is a MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur
Chaitanya Deshpande, Executive Vice President and Head Investor Relations and M&A
Chaitanya anchors the Investor Relations and M&A functions at Marico. He has led Marico’s inorganic growth agenda over the last few years. Recent acquisitions that he helped to conclude include those of Code 10 (from Colgate Palmolive), Derma Rx, Singapore and the Marico Group’s investment in 85% stake in International Consumer Products (ICP), a Vietnam-based leading FMCG company. Chaitanya joined Marico in 1991 and has been a key contributor towards Marico’s sustainable and profitable growth. His role, then, included financial planning, performance monitoring, third party manufacturing and treasury management. Prior to Marico, he was associated with Tata International, as a Management Trainee (Finance), in its leather processing division. He began his professional career, in 1986, as an Accounts Executive with Bharat Gears. Chaitanya is an alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies having done his Masters in Management Studies in 1990. He is a graduate in Commerce from Ness Wadia Institute (Pune).
Sameer Satpathy, Executive Vice President and Business Head
Sameer Satpathy is Executive Vice- President and Business Head at Marico Limited responsible for the Sales and Marketing function in India. Sameer joined Marico in 2002 and has since held several leadership positions at Marico, the most recent being Head of Marketing India. Prior to Marico, Sameer had a 7-year long stint Berger Paints. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and a Bachelor of Commerce from Hansraj College University of Delhi. He has also studied Consumer Marketing Strategy at Harvard Business School and Global Program for Management Development at University of Michigan.
Dr. Sudhakar Mhaskar, Executive Vice President and Global Head - Technology
Dr. Sudhakar Mhaskar is the EVP & Global Head – Technology, Marico Limited Dr. Mhaskar currently heads the Research & Development team at Marico. He is responsible for Basic Research, New product development, Consumer in-sighting, Regulatory and Quality Assurance. He works across categories to ensure that the company continues to leverage scale and create new opportunities for products based on diverse consumer needs. He leads a team of doctorates, technologists and chemists to create innovative and differentiated consumer products that delight consumers. He also represents Marico on several government committees, associations and federations. Prior to Marico, Dr. Mhaskar was associated with Hindustan Unilever Research Centre for twelve years, during which he handled a diverse range of responsibilities including natural product isolation, industrial and edible fat processing, perfumery chemicals, detergents, skin cleansing and skin care. His valuable insights in consumer mapping and market research played a crucial role in concept formation, product launch and product development. Dr. Mhaskar holds a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Bombay University and a Bachelors of Edible Oils technology degree from the University Department of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. He has several national and international papers as well as patents to his credit and has received the S. HussainZaheer Award for basic research in Oil Chemistry in 1993.
