Jim Burke, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Jim Burke is chairman and CEO of TXU Energy. He has been leading TXU Energy since August 2005 after joining in late 2004 as senior vice president of TXU Energy's residential markets. TXU Energy is the leading competitive retailer in Texas, which is the largest competitive electric market in the U.S. and has fully implemented customer choice across all customer segments. He has led the business through very significant changes in the business model including customer care, billing, information technology, marketing and sales, regulatory and legislative affairs, as well as commodity risk management. His vision is to establish TXU Energy as the most customer-centric retailer providing solutions for customers to predictably manage their energy costs and overall usage in an effort to be the preferred provider in the marketplace.
Prior to joining TXU Energy, Burke was president and chief operating officer of Gexa Energy. Gexa Energy (Nasdaq: GEXA) was a rapidly growing startup electric retailer based in Houston, and was subsequently acquired by FPL in 2005. Gexa Energy served both residential and commercial accounts. Prior to Gexa Energy, Burke was senior vice president of consumer operations with Reliant Energy, responsible for all customer care, billing and transaction management. Before that role, he was the vice president of residential marketing. Burke has been working in the retail electric market for the past 13 years and has gained broad experience in this very active market in both the residential and commercial segments.
Prior to his experience in competitive electricity markets, Burke worked for The Coca-Cola Company for six years working both domestically in the juice division of The Minute Maid Company and internationally in the expansion of the juice business through Coca-Cola Bottlers in Latin America, South Africa and Hong Kong. Prior to The Coca-Cola Company, he was a management consultant for Deloitte & Touche Consulting.
Burke is a graduate of Tulane University, earning a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's of business administration in finance and general management. Burke is a licensed certified public accountant and has also earned the designation as a chartered financial analyst.
Scott A. Hudson, Chief Operating Officer
Scott A. Hudson is chief operating officer for TXU Energy. He is responsible for the residential and business segments as well as growth initiatives for the company.
Hudson’s core responsibilities include leading the sales, marketing, product development, operations and IT organizations. He has successfully managed businesses for sustained growth and profitability in consumer- focused and competitive markets.
Prior to joining TXU Energy, Hudson has held senior leadership positions with MBNA America, ChoicePoint, and LexisNexis. He began his career as a commercial lawyer working in the electric industry for Troutman Sanders LLP, a highly respected international law firm.
Hudson has a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University.
David Faranetta, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
David Faranetta is senior vice president and chief financial officer for TXU Energy. Faranetta’s team provides insightful and broad financial leadership to the company and is responsible for the company’s accounting, planning, risk management/controls, load forecasting and energy procurement functions. In addition to the financial responsibilities, Faranetta also leads the Large Business Operations team that provides customer care, billing and support services to TXU Energy’s largest customers.
Prior to joining TXU Energy, Faranetta was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Luminant, a competitive power generation subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corp. With Luminant since 2000, he was previously vice president and principal financial officer of Luminant Power where he directed the financial planning, reporting and risk management functions for the business unit. Faranetta has also served in various management roles in the financial function of Luminant.
Before joining Luminant, he was with equipment manufacturer Ingersoll-Rand Company. As controller of the Rotary Drill Division, he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, reporting and planning. Other key financial positions included plant controller of the Rock Drill Division’s Roanoke, Va., plant and the manager of financial analysis for the construction and mining group.
Faranetta holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Moravian College and a master’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University.
